🌰🍁🌰🍁 All Saints’ Day, the most important day of the autumn, is an ancient Christian feast of the misty and somewhat rufous month of November, where the day shortens and the sun withdraws. The bare branches of the trees greet the cold that is arriving, and in the evenings by the fire, after supper, the family would gather and the rosary would be shelled as a commemoration of the dead of the house and of all the saints, who, as the custom dictates, go to visit the cemeteries. Then chestnuts were roasted in a perforated frying pan and the new wine, squeezed from the year’s grape harvest, was started with joy.
Thus, the Xino Xano organises the Castanyada🌰 every first of November, where they gather half an afternoon in the church square to offer everyone, as tradition dictates, chestnuts and sweet potatoes soaked in new wine.
