Lloret has a various chapels and churches that you can visit to get to know the history of the city.
One of these is the Chapel of Santa Cristina, where there is also an exhibition of miniature ships offered by sailors and fishermen to the saint and where Lloret’s Feast Day celebrations are held (24 July). There is also the Parish Church of Sant Romà, a must-see if you are walking around Lloret de Mar’s historic centre. Its artistic style is sure to surprise you.
Parish Church of Sant Romà
Taking a stroll through Lloret de Mar’s historic centre, you will come across the Church of Sant Romà, the patron saint of Lloret de Mar. The building reflects two very different periods of construction and architecture.
Chapel of the Sants Metges
This small chapel belonged to the former charity hospital of Lloret, which was founded in 1445 by Narcís Oliveres, canon of Girona cathedral and administrator of the Provostship of the month of November and, as such, lord of the territory of Lloret.
Chapel of Santa Cristina
The earliest records of this chapel date back to 1376, but the current building was constructed at the end of the 18th century. The chapel was built in the neoclassical style and its main lavish altar was made in Italy. It houses an interesting collection of ex-votos and miniature ships.
Chapel of Les Alegries
The chapel has been known by different names, such as Església Vella (Old Church), Mare de Déu Antiga and, later, Mare de Déu de les Alegries.
Chapel of Sant Quirze
Situada a 200 m del cementiri i a 1 km del centre, és anterior al segle XI i no té unitat d’estil. A la vora d’aquesta ermit s’han trobat fragments de ceràmica romana, una moneda de Constantí i diverses sepultures.
