‘Vila Florida’ (“Floral Town” in English) is a title of recognition given to towns and cities in Catalonia that have integrated green spaces into the local urban lifestyle. These spaces include from gardens, floral decorations or even the tradition of creating carpets out of flowers, practiced by some areas once a year.

A specialist jury assesses towns that have applied for the title. Among other aspects, assessments cover the functionality of green spaces, floral diversity, respect for the environment and sustainability, pest and disease-control programmes and the quality of urban living spaces.

Winners are awarded with Flors d’Honor (Flowers of Honour) and can receive between one and five.
